She's 28, playin night after night,
she's got patience.
Just a nice Catholic girl,
from the parish St. Ignatius.

It's never too late
It's never too late
It's never too late

Grew up dreamin of the day she would get to live forever
Everyone would want to see this lofty star,
this priceless treasure

It's never too late
It's never too late
It's never too late

Cuz she's the Catholic Screamer
Layin it down for the crowd
Ya she's the Catholic Screamer
Singin it high, singin it loud

St. Ignatius wants his girls to line up straight before the altar
Make themselves some nice warm homes, have a dozen sons and daughters

It's never too late
It's never too late
It's never too late

No one ever told this girl,
it was one or the other
Rock and roll, or the local understanding Catholic mother

It's never too late
It's never too late
It's never too late

Cuz she's the Catholic Screamer
Layin it down for the crowd
Ya she's the Catholic Screamer
Singin it high, singin it loud

NOTES - Hit Counter

I played with Carmel & Ron Watters for a year in the top forty band "Snapshot" in 1980.   I would run into them every once in awhile after that when I was on the road, and saw them play to a packed club in Yakima, probably in the summer of 1985.   I was struck by how Carmel would just scream the tunes - she had a lot of power and a really interesting breakup in her voice.  She progressed from a very smooth clear voice when I met her in 1978 to a no holds barred rock & roll singer by '85.  I know she had some label interest and wanted to hit it big, but on the flip side she was just this nice Catholic Girl that wanted to settle down and have a family.   It's a tough choice for someone dedicated to the craft and especially poignant for someone like Carmel - the road life & the family life are difficult to reconcile.

This was a strat in the Ford Caveman Mobile Studio - probably in the parking lot of the Sheraton Great Falls.  This was the way I wanted to play guitar and probably my best guitar recording, notwithstanding those goddamn digital drums.
