I Wish I Had
By Randy Jensen & Tom Atwood
I wish I had a
voice, to make you see my choice
That you are a love of mine
I wish I had a voice, to tell you of my joy
You have been more than kind
But I don't so I guess I won't
You slip away again, the way it's always been
I shouldn't try to pretend
Why can't I be like the rest?
Be so safe and sure
Why can't I be like the rest?
Help me find a cure
It all is yours, only me
I wish I had some arms, to make you understand
That I am one hell of a man
I wish I had some arms, to shield you from harm
Protecting you from all alarm
If I had what it takes, the it a man it makes
Maybe then I would rate
It's tougher than it seems, this must be a dream
Or least part of my fate
This story is all gone, it's the end of my song
Surely you've seen something here

NOTES -
Randy Jensen got pretty excited the first time he heard one of my "studio" recordings so in addition to our fish eating contests he started sending over volumes of lyrics he had been working on and I put a few of them to music.
I'm sure he was speaking figuratively here, or maybe this is just a song about some lovelorn mute quadraplegic - I don't really know cuz I didn't write it - if you really need to know Randy is probably still listed in the Burlington phone book and I'm sure he would be glad to discuss it with you. In any event, this is a pretty good song.
