Chapter 13 is a form of protected debt consolidation which requires that
you make affordable monthly payments to a Bankruptcy Trustee for a
period of 36-60 months.
These payments can include debt obligations
such as mortgage arrears, car payments, credit cards and even state and
federal taxes.
Chapter 13 does not necessarily require full
payment to all of your creditors and the Plan payment may be
substantially less than you are paying your creditors now.
Chapter 13 gives you one payment that you can
afford and protects you from repossessions, garnishments, creditor phone
calls and harassment.
Your petition for Chapter 13 can usually be
filed with the Court upon payment of the $281
Court Filing Fee, and in many cases even the filing fee can be paid
through the Plan by your Chapter 13 Trustee.
